Department Overview:

We have an authorized sworn strength of 777 sworn men and women and counting. Just this year, we added many new recruits to our ranks, and those officers have now begun their career paths in law enforcement. Some may choose to remain as patrol officers throughout their career while others may compete to perform specialized work in a wide range of units. Job Requirements:

• Age At least 21 years of age
• Education possess a high school diploma or GED
• Experience None Required

 

Additional Requirement:

The Raleigh Police Department has a new hiring process based on the implementation of a North Carolina State mandate that requires all agencies to implement a reading comprehension exam in their pre-employment process, effective 9/1/2010.
