Correctional Officer: Starting Salary – $32,100/yr. ($6,000 State Supplemental pay added after P.O.S.T.-certified and employed for one year.) Higher base salaries are possible based on previous law enforcement experience and paid incentives based on college education, military service, law enforcement related certifications, etc.
A correctional officer works rotating 12-hour shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays. Duties include the following: Conducting regular inspections of cell blocks, Insuring the safety and security of inmates, Photographing and booking inmates, Supervising inmate activities, Insuring inmates maintain sanitary living conditions.
The position is located at the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux, LA.
